The Katherman, Briggs, and Greenberg Community Fund: Creating a Culture of Compassion
In 2013, attorneys Tim Salvatore, Dean Dominick, and Brian Strong from Katherman, Briggs, and Greenberg (KBG) met with the York County Community Foundation (YCCF) to discuss the possibility of creating a fund. Knowing the community’s confidence in the Foundation helped guide the company’s decision to create the Katherman, Briggs, and Greenberg Community Fund – an endowed fund that builds upon the company’s long-standing commitment to philanthropy.
“KBG is proud to have established a permanent donor-advised fund through which we will direct all our charitable and community activities. We are thrilled to be part of the Foundation and to take part in creating a vibrant Central Pennsylvania for present and future generations,” shared Brian Strong, a partner at the law firm.
- What inspired KBG to create the fund?
Since KBG Injury Law’s founding in 1983, we have been dedicated to supporting the South-Central PA community. We represent clients in difficult situations and supporting the community just fits with our firm’s culture.
- Why did KBG choose YCCF to create a fund?
KBG chose to create a donor-advised fund at the YCCF because we knew that YCCF had a great program, and it would be a way for us to streamline our firm’s philanthropic efforts.
- What method does your team use to make grant recommendations?
Everyone on our team can make a recommendation for a worthy cause. Often it is a cause someone already supports through board service or other volunteer service.
- What does your company enjoy most about the grant-making process?
We are proud of the fact that over time we have contributed over $200,000 to our fund and issued grants to more than 40 community organizations since the fund’s inception. We love the permanency of the fund.
