Working Together to Create a Vibrant York County

Grant funding priorities are based on community needs that are identified through research and planning. The Community Foundation partners with volunteer committees and generous donors to establish and manage funds to fuel transformation through impactful grant awards. Grant proposals may be solicited or requested through our grant application process or by developing strategic partnerships that advance our goals. When grant seekers submit a letter of inquiry, our team will help match the project request to the best funding sources available at York County Community Foundation.

Is My Organization Eligible For A Grant?

To be eligible for a grant award, organizations must be a nonprofit entity, government agency, or public school district. Learn about program criteria, project guidelines, and inclusion policy on our Grant Eligibility page.

What Funding Sources Are Available?

Grants are awarded through a variety of funds stewarded by the Community Foundation. Our team will help match your request to the best source based upon fund priorities. Our primary funds and respective priorities include:

  • THRIVE Grants from the Fund for York County support programs that help low-income families build economic mobility.
  • Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging Grants support programs serving residents ages 50 and older.
  • Memorial Health Fund Grants support programs to improve people’s complete physical, mental, and social well-being.
  • Racial Equity Fund Grants address equity gaps for communities of color.
  • Environmental Fund Grants support projects that create a positive environmental impact in York County.
  • Directed Funds support specific causes that are important to our generous donors.

How Do I Apply?

If your organization and project meet our eligibility criteria, you're ready for the first step: completing the Letter of Inquiry by the required due date. All grant requests are initiated with a letter of inquiry; this gives us the opportunity to review your project idea and select the best grant funding options.

The 2026 Grant Letter of Inquiry will open by November 15, 2025.

When Should I Apply?

It is important to plan ahead for your grant funding needs in 2026. A Letter of Inquiry is the first step. If you have a project to launch in April through November of 2026, you should submit a letter of inquiry by December 10, 2025. If approved, you will receive an invitation to complete a full application with a due date in January 2026.

The second round of project grants will support projects with start dates between November 2026 through Spring 2027. This Letter of Inquiry is due by, June 10, 2026.
