York County Community Foundation Honors Professional Advisors

York, PA — To celebrate their contributions to creating a vibrant York County, York County Community Foundation (YCCF) inducted Leon Butler and Donald (Don) Dellinger, Jr. into its Professional Advisor Recognition Society at an event on Thursday, October 3 at the Heritage Hills Resort. Induction into the Professional Advisor Recognition Society allows the Community Foundation to recognize and thank local accountants, attorneys, financial planners, investment advisors, and trust officers for their efforts in promoting charitable giving with their clients through endowment with the Community Foundation. Leon Butler is an accountant with Rotz & Stonesifer, P.C. and Donald Dellinger was an accountant with RKL prior to his retirement.

“We’re pleased to call everyone in our Professional Advisor Recognition Society a true partner with the Community Foundation,” said Jane Conover, President and CEO of the York County Community Foundation. “They are true advocates for endowed charitable giving so their clients could support the causes they care about in perpetuity. Leon and Don have both been ambassadors for YCCF, offering it as a reliable solution for their clients’ charitable intentions.”

As Treasurer of the York County Agricultural Society, Leon Butler was a strong advocate for the creation of the York County Agricultural Society Foundation Endowed Fund at YCCF. He knew a fund at the Community Foundation would create a steady stream of funding to organize the York Fair, our nation’s first fair. Mr. Butler has also introduced YCCF to several clients who have turned their lifelong passions into their legacy at YCCF.

Don Dellinger has been a valued friend of the foundation since its formative years. As a CPA, he shared his professional expertise as the chair of our finance, audit and investment committees and he served two separate terms as a board member. Mr. Dellinger was hands on in his support during the growth of the foundation, overseeing every check, every gift, every investment and financial report until the organization had the staff and systems necessary. Over the years, Mr. Dellinger has worked with clients and YCCF to find ways to support his clients’ financial and charitable interests. He has also led by example, as a loyal supporter of YCCF’s Fund for York County.

Mr. Butler and Mr. Dellinger join twenty-two local professional advisors who have been inducted into the Professional Advisor Recognition Society since its inception in 2012.

The induction was coupled with an event on October 3 specifically designed for professional advisors featuring guest speaker Michael Foerster, Senior Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Foerster discussed the role of the Attorney General’s office in charitable giving, and how it partners with professional advisors and community foundations to bring resolution to complex estates that arrive in their office.
