York County Community Foundation Awards Over $144,000 In Grants to Local Nonprofits

York County Community Foundation (YCCF) is excited to announce its most recent round of grants to local nonprofits serving the York County community.

Natalee Gunderson, President & CEO of YCCF, expressed her pride in the partnerships YCCF has created with both its donors and local nonprofits, stating, “YCCF’s donors are truly committed to investing in the impactful programs and projects led by York County’s nonprofit agencies. We are extremely grateful for their dedication to our mission of creating opportunities for everyone to THRIVE.

The latest grants from YCCF include:

  • $25,000 from the Codorus Watershed Fund to Crispus Attucks Association for Phase Two of its Codorus Corridor Summer Enrichment Program which incorporates project-based and hands-on learning opportunities to engage local youth in the development of the Codorus Creek Improvement Project.
  • $20,000 from the Bob Hoffman Sports and Fitness Fund of York County Community Foundation to Lincolnway Sportscenter for Gloves across the Globe which aims to provide outreach and applicable life skills to local at-risk youth through the discipline of boxing and teachings of self-awareness.
  • $15,000 per year for two years from the Bob Hoffman Sports and Fitness Fund of York County Community Foundation to Eastern York Recreation Authority for its Blessing Field Revitalization Project to update all four ballfields located in Wrightsville Borough.
  • $15,000 from the Doris E. Swartz Education Fund of York County Community Foundation to Dillsburg Arts and Revitalization Council for the Dillsburg Arts and Heritage site project to establish a hands-on museum for children that will focus on the history of Dillsburg and the surrounding area, specifically during the 1900s.
  • $10,000 from the Bob Hoffman Sports and Fitness Fund of York County Community Foundation to York College of Pennsylvania for its Celebrating Athletic Achievement program to replace existing championship banners in its athletic facilities across the campus.
  • $10,000 from the Agriculture and Land Preservation Fund of the York County Community Foundation to York College of Pennsylvania for researchers to employ a multispectral analysis of farm crops to educate farmers on ways to reduce their use of chemical and natural pollutants while maintaining and increasing crop yields.
  • $10,000 from the Bob Hoffman Sports and Fitness Fund of York County Community Foundation to the Bench Mark Program to create a Women’s Strength and Fitness Center within its facility and launch a series of new programs that specifically address the needs and interests of at-risk young women in our community.
  • $9,500 from the Walter B. Loucks – Michael Alan Bose Arts Fund to York Art Association to purchase essential materials to expand its educational offerings and increase participation in its art classes. These funds will enrich the learning experience for community members and enable them to explore their artistic potential without financial barriers.
  • $9,400 from the Codorus Watershed Fund to the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association to eliminate the application of herbicides along the Codorus Creek throughout York City’s creek banks.
  • $6,500 from the Racial Equity Fund for the “Building Resilient Re-entrants” project – a ten-step comprehensive approach to transition ex-offenders into successful and resilient citizens. Bro2Go’s reentry framework ensures that each client stays empowered, financially independent, and positive to maintain freedom.
  • $5,750 from YCCF to the Association of Fundraising Professionals PA Central Chapter to obtain Platinum-level status to equip local fundraisers with the skills, expertise, and knowledge to secure the resources needed to change lives, with a focus on DEI and inclusivity.
  • $5,000 from the Bob Hoffman Sports and Fitness Fund of York County Community Foundation to Give Local York to create the Bob Hoffman Sports and Fitness Fund Prize to shine a spotlight on organizations focused on youth sports, fitness, and recreation while providing an opportunity for extra funding dollars for those organizations on Give Day.
  • $5,000 from the Mabel L. Slifer Fund for People and Animals in Need to Give Local York to create the Mabel L. Slifer Fund for People and Animals in Need Prize to shine a spotlight on organizations that provide homes to stray and abandoned animals, curb animal cruelty, and educate the public on animal wellness and safety, all while providing an opportunity for extra funding dollars for those organizations on Give Day.
  • $2,500 to Appell Center for the Performing Arts for its York County Student Music Festival to showcase the diversity of student musicians and provide participants with a free performance opportunity.
  • $2,500 from YCCF’s Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging to Give Local York to create the Embracing Aging Prize that will provide $1,250 to one x-small/small nonprofit and $1,250 to one medium/large nonprofit organization that offers programming to York County individuals age 50+.
  • $2,000 to Appell Center for the Performing Arts for its Black History Film Series during Black History Month. Local Black community members were asked to curate movies that are important to each of them and share why with the York community to broaden the Center’s reach in the community.
  • $1,100 from the Mabel L. Slifer Fund for People and Animals in Need to Leg Up Farm for its Equine Assisted Learning program to certify a Leg Up Farm riding instructor as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (or ESMHL), to allow the organization to provide equine assisted learning opportunities to York County students with Individual Education Plans (or IEP’s).

Additionally, as part of the York County Nonprofit Resiliency Landscape, four organizations received mini-grants as an incentive to complete the survey.  The winners include:

  • $1,000 to Friends & Neighbors of Pennsylvania Inc.
  • $1,000 to York Day Early Learning
  • $500 to Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center
  • $500 to Shadowfax Corporation
