York County Community Foundation Awards Grants to Strengthen Nonprofit Efforts

The York County Community Foundation (YCCF) awarded $217,751 to community nonprofits from its Fund for York County, Children’s Program Fund, and the White Rose Foundation Fund during its most recent grant cycle. Eleven organizations received grants, ranging from $4,500 to $140,000.

YCCF committed to continuing support for Communities in Schools in the York City School District with a $140,000 grant over two additional years. The grant will support in-school coordinators to work with students in need.

“Communities in Schools (CIS) coordinators have improved the outcomes for York City students,” says Jane Conover, YCCF President and CEO. “Eighty-three percent of the students they work with are doing better academically, seventy-four percent have better attendance and sixty-eight percent are demonstrating fewer behavior issues. High-impact initiatives like this need time to develop and be fully implemented – it’s important for us to stay the course, and we’re proud to see such strong outcomes in our fourth year of funding.”

The Fund for York County is the foundation’s fund for high-impact initiatives that support quality education, workforce development and revitalizing downtowns and neighborhoods. It is comprised of nearly 60 funds designated to meet the community’s most pressing needs.
