YorIt’s Impact Investing Helps Build Business in Downtown York

YorIt membership recently voted to grant a $5,000 Social Venture Challenge award to the energetic and committed arts collective The Parliament. The award will be used as seed money to grow their efforts to organize music and art events in downtown York, provide venues for local artists to show their work, and create opportunities for all people to be creative.

YorIt’s 2012 Social Venture Challenge asked applicants to create innovative solutions that contribute to social good that will be self-sustaining; thereby shaping a vital York County, and submit their entries online via video. In the photo above, Patti Stirk, chair of the YorIt Advisory Committee, has fun with interactive art created by The Parliament for YorIt members to design. The art combines York County Community Foundation’s logo (a marble shape) and The Parliament’s logo (an owl) in a fun and whimsical way.
