YorIt Now Accepting Applications For $20,000 Social Venture Challenge Grant

Individuals or groups with great ideas for invigorating York could win a grant of up to $20,000 from the YorIt venture challenge, which is administered by the York County Community Foundation. Taste Test, the Royal Square pop-up restaurant space, was a winner in 2016.

“Through the YorIt Social Venture Challenge, we support emerging socially-minded organizations that add to the vitality of York,” explained YorIt Social Venture Challenge Chair Kelley Gibson. “Half of the funds raised through the YorIt Giving Circle memberships go toward creating a YorIt endowment and half go toward the Social Venture Challenge grant program. Members play an active role in the grantmaking process by making connections, soliciting ideas, interviewing applicants, all culminating in a live pitch event where members vote on the project that means the most to them. We can grant up to $20,000 to the idea or startup that makes York an exciting place to be.”

A one-page online letter of intent must be submitted by 5:00 pm on November 15th at www.yorit.org to start the application process. From there, finalists will be accepted to create a full application. Five finalists will be selected to participate in a live pitch event on April 18, 2018.
