S. Edward Murphy Fund

S. Edward Murphy established this fund in order to provide in perpetuity for Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hanover and the Hanover Area Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc. Mr. Murphy, a veteran of the United States Army, served as Staff Sergeant during WWII, and was awarded the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a charter member and first president of the Hanover Jaycees and also a member and past president of the Hanover Rotary Club. Mr. Murphy was an avid skier and hiker and was a member of both the Maryland Hiking Club and the York Hiking Club. He had an organic garden and belonged to Seed Savers.
