Edith Allen Barber Fund

Edith Barber was Executive Director of the York YWCA for 17 years, but she did not limit her interests to the YWCA. Over the years, she helped to start and sustain charitable organizations throughout the community including Atkins House, Community Progress Council, and Historic York. When she served on the Community Foundation’s Distribution Committee, she was always concerned there weren’t enough discretionary funds to respond to the many worthy funding requests the Community Foundation receives each year. To celebrate her 90th birthday, her son, Skip Barber, started this Fund, which supports the Community Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking programs.
