David J. Stickler Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2015

Theresa Stickler created this fund in honor of her husband, David, who passed away unexpectedly in 2013. According to Teresa, David was a man who went out and made things happen. That phrase is very important to Teresa; it is part of a longer quote from Leonardo da Vinci: “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” David had it written on the wall in their kitchen and Theresa feels the quote truly embodied the kind of man David was.

David served as a Life Group Leader at LCBC Church, coaching and organizing for Eastern Knights Lacrosse, serving on youth mission trips with Shared Pew Missions, working at NRG Energy as Director of Innovation Technology, and was the all-around best dad and a wonderful husband of 26 years. Theresa shared that David happened to things in a big way. His accomplishments are many, and he believed in living and working with excellence, always looking for ways to improve.

The David J. Stickler Memorial Scholarship Fund of York County Community Foundation will provide an annual scholarship for an Eastern York High School graduating senior who has an interest in STEM fields as well as an outstanding record of community service.
