Born in Baltimore, MD, Cianna Hoyt spent her early years in Edgewater, MD. Even at this early age, her precocious nature provided much pride and entertainment for her parents, family and friends. When Cianna was four years-old, her family moved to Stewartstown, PA where she began her career as an actress, musician, and comedian. All of her education took place in the Southeastern School District and she graduated Kennard Dale High School in 2015.

Cianna loved music from an early age. She was exposed to different genres throughout her youth and also came to love musicals. In elementary school she played the violin, but eventually moved on to play percussion. During junior high and high school, Cianna participated in many music-related opportunities both at school and at Stewartstown United Method Church. These included Company of Praise, Summer Theatre, Concert and Marching Band. She especially enjoyed playing the quads in Drumline. Besides physical education, Cianna’s other favorite classes were Music Tech and Music Theory and she loved to compose her own music and lyrics.

While participating in activities she formed close bonds not only with friends but also with the wider community. Cianna loved to surprise people with random acts of kindness and was a loyal and devoted friend and family member.

Other main interests included a passion for animals, especially dogs and horses. She had an affinity for comedy and coffee, and giving back however she could, including working at China Cat Stables and Leg Up Counseling. She also cared deeply about social justice issues such as Trans Rights, LGBQAI Equality and Black Lives Matter.

It was a tremendous heartache for her family and community when she lost her life in the Summer of 2020. Cianna was a strong, smart, promising young woman who impacted many and she will be deeply missed. She would be proud to know that her love for music and affection for the Music Club at Kennard Dale will live on through her legacy.
