Barbara F. Appell Fund for York County

When Barbara Appell passed away in 2014, her father, Louis Appell Jr., asked that memorial gifts be directed to the Community Foundation’s Fund for York County. He was so inspired by the outpouring of support that when he added his own memorial gift, he was able to create the Barbara F. Appell Fund for York County as a permanent way to honor his daughter. Barbara was a kind, caring person who loved animals, nature, and gardening, was musically talented, and was a willing and generous donor to a wide variety of charitable causes. Mr. Appell, who has been a longtime friend and supporter of the Community Foundation and its mission, believed Barbara’s appreciation of everything life had to offer would be reflected well by a fund that could address important community issues as they change over time.
