(York, PA, August 20, 2024) – Memorial Health Fund, a supporting organization of the York County Community Foundation, recently awarded over $281,000 in grants to eleven York County organizations to address compelling health issues of the residents of York and its surrounding communities.
“The Memorial Health Fund is proud to support organizations that are working tirelessly to provide much-needed mental health and wellness services to people in and around our community,” said, Michelle Hovis, Chair of the Memorial Health Fund Board.
The latest round of grants from the Memorial Health Fund include:
- $50,000 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness to expand its Peer Youth Support Groups into the Red Lion School District and York City School District to provide critical mental health services for students.
- $50,000 to York Opioid Collaborative for its Collective Response Initiative York program to employ a network of organizations, institutions, and community members that will work together to significantly reduce the negative impact of substance use in York by learning together, aligning, and integrating their actions to achieve population and systems-level change.
- $50,000 over two years to Jewish Family Services of Greater Harrisburg for its Healing Home project to recruit new families to care for medically complex children in the child welfare system.
- $27,000 to Parish Resource Center for its Take-Home Totes for York County Congregations program to provide easily-carried bags of nutritious, shelf-stable foods to social work offices within medical centers to meet emergency food access needs for medically vulnerable persons.
- $25,000 to Covenant House Pennsylvania for its York County Youth Wellness Initiative (YCYWI) – a comprehensive program designed to bolster the overall health and well-being of at-risk youth in York County by providing them with vital support and resources.
- $18,000 to the American Red Cross of Central PA for its Blood Saves Lives program to answer the call to sustain a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in need in York County.
- $15,000 to the Margaret E. Moul Home to enhance its Nursing Program and provide individuals with neuromuscular disorders, such as Cerebral Palsy, the specialized equipment and professional medical care they need to overcome their impairments and live rich and fulfilling lives.
- $15,000 to Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community for its Memory Care Education program that provides support groups and various trainings at Cross Keys Village are open to neighbors in the greater community at no cost.
- 13,096 to Leg Up Farm, Inc. for its Integrated Physical Education Program created in collaboration with Pyramid Health Services, to provide physical education classes for students enrolled in the autism support classrooms at Leg Up Farm.
- $10,000 to Accountability For Life for its FEAST Program – an innovative hands-on food education and culinary skills training program to improve students’ nutritional knowledge and “kitchen know-how” to promote health-conscious decisions and habits that cultivate a healthier lifestyle.
- $8,000 to Appell Center for the Performing Arts for its Sensory Inclusive Project with Kulture City to help both adults and children with sensory needs and invisible disabilities enjoy shows, films, classes, and events more comfortably.
