Memorial Health Fund at York County Community Foundation Awards Over $188,000 in Grants to Local Nonprofits

(York, PA, March 12, 2025) – The Memorial Health Fund, a supporting organization of the York County Community Foundation, recently awarded over $188,000 in grants to five York County nonprofit organizations. These grant-funded projects address many of the most compelling issues impacting the health and wellness of residents in York County and its surrounding communities.

“The Memorial Health Fund is proud to support these five important programs and initiatives led by local nonprofits. The health of individuals is essential to creating a vibrant and thriving community, and we are honored to fund organizations that are providing life-saving services to people in York County,” shared Michele Mummert, Vice President of Grants & Community Engagement.

The Latest Round of Grants from the Memorial Health Fund:

  • $68,160 to the Peyton Walker Foundation to install 40 AEDs, or automated external defibrillators at York County nonprofits and youth athletic organizations. An AED is a medical device that can save a person’s life by restarting the heart after it stops.
  • $50,000 to Logos Works Partners to provide specialized training to York County law enforcement through its Handle with Care Program. The goal of this program is to foster collaboration between police and the community by enhancing officer wellness and empowering individuals with disabilities to navigate police encounters safely.
  • $50,000 to YWCA Hanover to create a Hands-On Learning Kitchen and Outdoor Garden to address childhood obesity. In this hands-on environment, children will learn about healthy choices, learn how to grow their own produce, prepare their own hot nutritious meals, and make a meal to take home to share with their family, since many struggle with food insecurity.
  • $10,000 to the Power Packs Project to expand access to affordable, healthy food to families in the Red Lion Area School District. This expansion will reduce food insecurity in the district by filling the gap in food access over the weekends when school meals are unavailable.
  • $10,000 to Rising Stars Football Academy Foundation (RSFA) to expand programs and offerings during its 2025 Football Camp to both male and female student-athletes. Campers learn about leadership, life and social skills, health and wellness, financial literacy, and more to help prepare them for success in the classroom, in the community, and on the field.
