York County Community Foundation Awards Over $907,000 In Grants to Thirty-One Local Nonprofits from Seventeen Funds

(York, PA, August 13, 2025) – York County Community Foundation (YCCF) is proud to announce over $907,000 in grants awarded to thirty-one nonprofit organizations. YCCF’s grantmaking programs, with the generous support of donors, has awarded a total of $5.7 million year-to-date to nonprofits serving the local community.

These recent grants, along with others from the Racial Equity and Memorial Health funds, reflect YCCF’s collective commitment to fostering a thriving, equitable, and resilient York County for all people. Most grant awards are recommended by community volunteer committees, and all are approved by YCCF’s Board of Directors.

Their projects align with the most pressing needs of our community from affordable housing, career training, to supporting children, older adults, and other special populations. York County Community Foundation continues to lead strategic grantmaking and community engagement in a way that spurs innovation and encourages collaboration between our trusted nonprofit organizations and our generous philanthropic donors,” shared Natalee C. YCCF partners with donors and nonprofit organizations to understand and tackle the most pressing issues in York County. This strategic approach is evident in this round of awards. More than 28,000 children and youth will benefit from 10 projects with a total of $243,000 investment. Four projects totaling $86,300 specifically aim to serve more than 2,400 older adults and foster an age-friendly York County. Greater career opportunities lie ahead for more than 400 York Countians through six career and trade programs funded by grants in the amount of $150,000. Six agencies aim to provide safe and affordable housing to 2,350 individuals with a total of $186,000 in grant funding.

Every York County resident will benefit from ten projects focused on environmental, economic, and community improvements with a combined investment of $224,000. YCCF stewards discretionary grant funds in a deliberate way so that many partners working across multiple sectors can effect positive systemic change in complex issues.

Specific grant recipients, amounts, and projects are detailed in the following list:

THRIVE Grant Recipients: (funded by the Fund for York County, Children’s Program Fund, and the Beautiful York Fund)

Leg Up Farms & Abel Services, $22,500 – To create a well devised, professional, and strategic roadmap for the sustainability and growth of the two sister organizations.

Servants, Inc., $50,000 – To build the capacity of the Home Helps program to fund critical home repairs for under-resourced homeowners.

Girls on the Run Mid State PA, $50,000 – To deliver evidence-based afterschool program to support positive holistic health outcomes for girls in grade 3-8.

Partnership for Economic Development of York County, $50,000 – To offer enhanced technical support, attainable capital, and create entrepreneurship through the BLOOM Business Empowerment Center, with a focus on empowering woman-owned and BIPOC-owned businesses.

CASA, $42,500 – To support the Workforce Development Program aiming to help immigrant and working-class community members obtain family-sustaining employment.

Medard’s House, $40,000 – To support the Every Hour Counts program, a comprehensive afterschool and summer camp for financially disadvantaged families.

Partnership for Economic Development of York County, $25,000 – To review and update the York County Economic Action Plan.

Bro2Go, Inc., $25,000 – To empower individuals re-entering society by equipping them with vital knowledge and skills needed to secure jobs and build rewarding careers.

Rotary Club of York, $15,000 – To replace Pear trees in downtown York City.

York Builders Association Workforce NOW Foundation, Inc., $10,000 – To train and certify York County high school students for a variety of trade careers through Building Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program, a state-registered program.

18 South Ministries, Inc., $10,000 To help at-risk teams navigate support to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential in a positive, safe environment.

Crispus Attucks Association, $10,000 – To support the Codorus STEAM Ambassadors Program which engages rising 9-10th grade students in a “live learning laboratory” through the Codorus Greenway development project.

Embracing Aging Grant Recipients: (funded by the Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging)

LifePath Christian Ministries, $26,800 – To provide community support to unhoused older adults, including medical management, nutrition counseling, transportation, and healthcare access.

Red Land Senior Citizen’s Center, Inc., $10,000 – To provide art & crafts, workshops and other social engagement activities to members.

Bell Socialization Services, $10,000To support Mental Health Supported Housing programs to empower clients in securing and maintaining safe, affordable permanent housing with personalized case management and life skills support.

Theatre Arts for Everyone, $4,500 – To support Senior Touring Troup to take theatre directly to people.

Environmental Grant Recipients: (funded by Agriculture & Land Preservation Program Fund, Sustainable Energy Program Fund, and Codorus Watershed Program Fund)

Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education, $42,500 – To promote sustainable land use through productive tree and shrub cultivation under the Agroforestry Program.

Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association, $20,000 – To eliminate the application of herbicides along Codorus Creek throughout York City.

Watershed Alliance of York, Inc., $20,000 – To restore two tributaries of the Codorus Creek in Spring Grove, PA.

Hopewell Fish and Game Association of PA, $19,000 – To launch the Trout Nursery Renovation project.

RegenAll, $10,000 – To engage community experts and residents in creating a comprehensive environmental sustainability plan for York County.

Leg Up Farms, Inc., $9,020 – To offset permitting costs to complete an ecological restoration project near the Farmer’s Market.

City of York, $10,645 – To Continental Square Seasonal Planting (funded by Downtown York Sustainable Landscapes Fund, Downtown York Urban Landscape Stewardship Fund, and the Beautiful York Fund)

Junior Achievement of South Central PA, $10,000To provide financial literacy and work readiness educational opportunities to students in York County Title 1 Schools (funded by the Innerst Education Fund)

York County Food Bank, $10,000 – To expand access to the food bank’s innovative online food pantry for more food-insecure individuals and families (funded by Mabel Slifer Fund for People and Animals in Need)

Trojan Aquatic Club, $7,000 – To offset initial rental fees and expenses for temporary use of other pool facilities while York Suburban High School pool is renovated until club can implement broader fundraising campaign (funded by the Bob Hoffman Sports & Fitness Fund)

Appell Center for the Performing Arts, $5,120 – To offer summer camps that encouraging a host of skills, including critical thinking and creative exploration to more than 40 students (funded by the Walter B. Loucks-Michael Alan Bose Arts Fund)

Walnut Grove Therapeutic Center, Inc., $5,287 – To purchase Equicizer mechanical horse to enhance the experience of participants in the therapeutic youth riding program (funded by Mabel Slifer Fund for Animals and People in Need)

Dillsburg Arts & Revitalization Council, $3,400 – To launch mobile museum and other local history and arts programs for the school district and community (funded by the Charlotte R. Langione Fund)

Canine Rescue of Central PA Adoption Program, $2,550 – To support the Canine Rescue Adoption Program, which has a 98% success rate of matching the right dog with the right home (funded by the Mabel Slifer Fund for Animals and People in Need)

Affordable Housing Advocates, $5,000 – To fill funding gap in construction of an affordable home located at 254 S. Queen Street, York (funded by the Douglas & Lorie Sheaffer Housing Fund)
