Memorial Health Fund Announces New Grant Program

Memorial Health Fund (MHF), York County Community Foundation’s first supporting organization, today announced a new grant program that could transform the way our community addresses compelling health issues. The new program has the capacity to grant up to $900,000, and will fund programs that address issues to improve the complete physical, mental and social well-being of the residents of York and its surrounding communities. MHF highly encourages nonprofit collaboration and interested applicants must attend an information session before applying for a grant.

“The impact of the Memorial Health Fund grant program is limited only by the applicants’ imaginations,” said Jane Conover, president of the Community Foundation. “With $900,000 available to grant this year, and funds available every year in perpetuity, the options are endless.” Conover hopes the grant program will spur nonprofits to think big, collaborate, and be innovative. “This program will be transformative,” Conover said.

“We’re thrilled to get this grant program up and running,” said Jack Kay, Memorial Health Fund board chair. “The legacy of the great community health work Memorial supported when it was a private hospital will live on forever through Memorial Health Fund. We know the impact on our community’s health issues will be nothing but positive.”

The new MHF grant program is designed to be flexible. Conover explained that funding is not limited to large grants, but that the potential exists to fund one very high-impact program, many small ones, or everything in between. With its broad mission, any nonprofit, when collaborating with other nonprofits on health-related issues, would have the potential to receive a grant.

Interested applicants are required to attend one of two grant information sessions, scheduled for Thursday, April 28 and Wednesday, May 4 from 9 – 11 am at the offices of York County Community Foundation, 14 West Market Street, York. Registration information can be found at www.yccf.org/Memorialhealthfund. Grants will be accepted through July 31, 2016, and will be awarded at the end of October, 2016.

Memorial Health Fund was established with the proceeds from the sale of Memorial Health Systems and became a supporting organization of York County Community Foundation in 2015.
