Michael & Judy Rutter: Deep Community Roots

Michael and Judy Rutter’s York County roots run deep. Their family dairy business and farm store began as a retail dairy business in the 1920s. When Michael and Judy began working with their attorney to plan for retirement and create an estate plan, their deep roots tugged at them. They liked the idea of everlasting giving to a community that mattered so much to them.

By working with their attorney, Jack Shorb of Stock and Leader, and York County Community Foundation (YCCF), Michael and Judy ensured that their will would provide the resources needed to not only support their family but also the greatest needs of the community through YCCF’s Fund for York County. In addition, their estate plans will support Leg Up Farm and York County 4-H, two local organizations that mean so much to them.

Michael and Judy Rutter’s story is just one example of how YCCF creates a vibrant York County: we engage our donors in charitable giving that is the most meaningful to them and to our community. And when they ask us where York’s greatest needs are, we share with them opportunities to provide community leadership to improve York overall.

Just as it was with Michael and Judy Rutter, many of our greatest relationships come from attorneys, accountants, investment advisors, and financial planners who introduce their clients to the Community Foundation. Why? Professional advisors like Jack Shorb understand that their clients already believe in York and want to help sustain our community in the future; these same professional advisors know YCCF can carry out their clients’ intentions.
