We recently lost a pillar of the community with the death of Bill Wolf on September 9. YCCF mourns the loss of our dear friend and one of the bold minds who helped create YCCF as we know it today. In 1992, Bill helped create YCCF’s entire strategic direction and initiated a fundraising campaign that exceeded its goal by more than $2 million!
Little did we know the profound effect Bill Wolf’s efforts to lead YCCF into the 21st century would have on YCCF and the York community. By 1995, Bill had helped our assets reach $7.3 million. Today they are at $131 million and we have granted more than $50 million back to the community through area nonprofits whose programming helps improves the lives of people throughout our community.
YCCF’s offices are named after Bill – The William T. Wolf Center for Philanthropy. It’s not something he wanted attention for, but it was something we felt was deserving of his leadership. But despite all that Bill did for those around him, he would be the first to play down his role. That’s true generosity and an amazing legacy.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bill’s family. We will always remember Bill’s radiant smile – throughout his life, Bill gave his smile selflessly to others, so we found a couple of photos that represent Bill as we would like to remember him.
