Cathy Bollinger, CSA
Executive Director of Embracing Aging
As a native York Countian, Cathy is passionate about improving the quality of life and place for people of all ages. With experience as a strategic thinker and innovative problem-solver in both for-profit and non-profit settings, Cathy joined YCCF in 2014 and leads YCCF’s work in applying a “does it work for people of all ages” lens. This includes educating and advocating to dismantle ageism and create Age-Friendly communities, with focus on housing and transportation. She also leads grantmaking from YCCF’s Hahn Home Fund.
Cathy is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors. By earning this accredited certification, she has demonstrated advanced knowledge in the multiple processes of aging and agrees to uphold the highest ethical standards for the benefit and protection of the health and welfare of older adults.In addition to participating in multiple community-wide committees and initiatives, Cathy leads York County’s participation in the Age-Friendly PA Initiative, a collaborative effort of the PA Departments of Aging and Community & Economic Development, AARP PA, Grantmakers in Aging, and leaders from Pennsylvania’s Age-Friendly communities. Cathy is a member of VOICE, PA, a statewide initiative that works to empower Pennsylvania elders and their care partners to make informed choices wherever they call home. She also serves on the Pennsylvania AARP Executive Council, the Long-Term Services and Supports Sub-committee supporting the Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Service’s Medical Assistance Advisory Committee, and the Advice and the Accountability Council of ALPHA (Alliance for Low-Income Personal Care Homes Advancement), a collaborative statewide organization that promotes the sustainability of low-income personal care homes through volunteerism, advocacy, partnerships, and business mentoring.
Cathy is also is a member of Grantmakers in Aging and the American Society on Aging.
Cathy has presented at national aging conferences and webinars, appeared on regional radio and television shows, and contributed articles to regional publications. At the invitation of Chairman Collins and Ranking Member Casey, she was one of four witnesses selected to present testimony at the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging in May 2017.
An avid fan of food and design competition shows, wine tastings, travel, and musical theatre, Cathy treasures being with family and looks back fondly on the time spent with her grandparents, as each taught her valuable lessons about their aging that she carries with her today.
