In an effort to make York County a great place to age, York County Community Foundation’s Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging awarded $82,579 during its 2017 competitive grant cycle. Thirteen nonprofit organizations received grants ranging from $2,320 to $10,000 for programs serving people age 50 and older.
YCCF’s Embracing Aging strives to create a community that is a safe, welcoming, appropriate and adaptable place to age by improving attitudes around one’s own aging and senior adults to increase understanding and caring about the needs and perspectives of all ages. YCCF provides grants to increase high-quality and forward-thinking options to help seniors live as they choose in their community.
This is the third competitive grant cycle since the Embracing Aging initiative was launched in 2014. A committee of volunteers primarily comprised of retired professionals over the age of 60 reviewed the 26 applications received and used a standardized rubric to score each application. The committee focused on programs that help reduce barriers to aging well, and grants were awarded to those that provide the greatest impact. Since December 2014, YCCF’s Embracing Aging has awarded $751,471, including the latest grants below.
