Dear Friends,
We have important news to share with you about the closing of TroveStreet® effective March 31, 2025. It has been a joy and privilege serving you for the past three years. Please read the remainder of this message to learn more and what this means.
TroveStreet® is a subsidiary of York County Community Foundation and was developed under our Embracing Aging initiative. YCCF made the bold decision to invest resources in TroveStreet® to test a concept dedicated to aging-in-place education, even though community foundations do not typically provide services directly to individuals. As conscientious stewards, we did this with the plan to evaluate TroveStreet®’s results within three years.
Through our assessment, we learned that many of you enjoyed our wisdom articles, seminars, and conversations. These resources instilled knowledge and confidence in people who were planning for possible changes associated with growing older. That’s what TroveStreet® was designed to do; to help you make more informed decisions about where and how you live. We thank you for including us as a trusted source of information.
We have also learned from you. Your questions, stories, and experiences have deepened our understanding of the needs and concerns of York Countians as we age. This has strengthened our belief that everyone deserves to grow older with dignity, safety, and a sense of belonging in our community. With nearly 40% of York County residents age 50 and older, there is still work to be done to ensure we all have access to the amenities and quality of life we desire. Housing and transportation are key areas where meaningful impact can be made.
In our role as a funder, community convener, and expert in age-friendly work, York County Community Foundation is uniquely positioned to advocate and educate on the benefits of applying an age-equity lens to community initiatives, especially in housing and transportation projects. Age equity is summed up in the form of a simple question, “does it work for people of all ages?” Applying this lens improves livability for all because if something works for someone age 8 and age 80, it will most likely work for everyone.
As a result of the work with TroveStreet® over the last three years and the analysis on the impact we can have through the Embracing Aging initiative, we have made a strategic decision to discontinue TroveStreet® services. Moving forward, we will dedicate 100% of our focus to driving high-impact change at the local level and through partnerships across the Commonwealth. By concentrating our expertise and resources on these community-wide efforts, we can create a greater impact while inviting others to join us. This decision honors the roots and legacy of the York County Community Foundation’s Hahn Home Fund and its original donor, Anna Gardner.
York County Community Foundation has been serving York County since 1961 and leading the Embracing Aging initiative since 2013. You have our promise that we will continue to be innovative, strategic, collaborative, and bold in the work we do to ensure York County is the best place it can be to live, work, and play for all ages.
Thank you for joining us in our TroveStreet® journey. We look forward to serving you through future efforts to make York County a vibrant and age-friendly community where everyone thrives.
Warmly,
Cathy Bollinger, CSA Executive Director of Embracing Aging & TroveStreet® |
