YCCF Helps The Grotto Revitalize Downtown York
For more than 10 years, YCCF has been committed to revitalizing York’s historic Continental Square. In 2018, with funding from YCCF’s Beautiful York Endowment, Downtown Inc. secured lighting designs for all of the buildings on the square. YCCF also provided implementation funding for two of the buildings, including the Rupp building, making the locations more attractive to potential business tenants.
In 2019, Prince Street Café and the Grotto brought life to the once empty building. The Grotto is a contemporary coworking space for the development of the arts and small businesses. It offers coworking spaces, hot desks, private offices and artist studios, and hosts networking and educational events like artist workshops and entrepreneur meetups.

Working Together to Create a Vibrant York County
“There’s something about being in a historic building in a historic city,” said Ben. “There are so many beautiful buildings with good bones. Part of our goal is to have an individual or small business start here, build their network and eventually, outgrow our space. Then they can go on to revitalize new spaces in York.”
YCCF Grants Make A Difference
The Community Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations that impact our strategic focus areas, which are determined by volunteer committees and Community Foundation staff using community plans, research and the intentions of donors who have established funds at the Community Foundation.
