Pete and Linda Tate Family Fund for Children & Youth

Established in 2022

Pete and Linda Tate’s lives centered around their sons Bryan and David and other children in their community.  They were youth group and scout leaders at their church, and Linda taught pre-school at the Center for Young Children, while Pete was a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor at DONSCO, Inc.

For their 50th wedding anniversary in 2017, Pete and Linda updated their wills to include a future estate gift to create an endowed fund at the York County Community Foundation.  Named the “Pete and Linda Tate Family Fund for Children and Youth,” it will annually award a designated grant to the Spring Grove Area Educational Fund to benefit the students of the Spring Grove Area School District for generations.  The fund also includes a portion for their sons Bryan and David to advise to benefit children across York County.

“When we moved to York County, we didn’t know anybody,” said Linda Tate.  “Our first friends here were the parents of our boys’ classmates, and for many years all our family time revolved around church and school activities.  Our family owes so much to Spring Grove, and now Pete and I are saying thank you through our wills.  We hope others consider creating their legacy here, too.”

In 2018 at the Spring Grove Area High School Fall Play, the district unveiled the naming of the “Pete and Linda Tate Family Music and Theater Department” to honor Pete and Linda’s commitment to the district and the children of their community.
