York County Community Foundation Awards Over $255,000 in Grants to Strengthen York County Nonprofits

(York, PA, November 6, 2025) The York County Community Foundation (YCCF) is proud to announce the latest round of community grants supporting nonprofits in York County. Through the generosity of donors and YCCF’s various program funds, more than $255,000 was awarded to 21 local organizations advancing education, housing, equity, arts, and community well-being. The collective efforts of these grantees aim to impact more than 175,000 York County friends and neighbors.

“These grants demonstrate the incredible breadth of innovation, compassion, and vibrancy across York County,” said Natalee Gunderson, President & CEO of YCCF. “Every organization we support represents a local partnership improving lives—whether that’s helping children learn, supporting families in need, or revitalizing community spaces. Together, we’re building a York County where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

THRIVE Grant Recipients (Funded by the Fund for York County, Children’s Program Fund, Nonprofit Management Assistance Fund, and the Beautiful York Fund) 

York City Parks Conservancy – received a total of $50,000 from the Fund for York County and Bob Hoffman Sports & Fitness Fund to upgrade the playground and restrooms at Farquhar Park, improving accessibility and revitalizing a historic community space.

Catholic Charities – received $25,000 to create a new domestic violence support group program offering trauma-informed care and counseling for survivors.

Downtown Inc – received $16,000 to replace damaged trench drains along North Beaver Street to improve safety and appearance in downtown York.

ASSETS Lancaster – received $15,000 to expand access to community lending and financial education services for York County entrepreneurs, offering low-interest loans and technical training.

White Rose Leadership Institute – received $11,950 to launch a new GLY365 donation platform, improving accessibility and efficiency for York County nonprofit organizations.

Rainbow Rose Center – received a total of $10,000 from the Fund for York County and the Jeffrey D. Myers LGBTQ+ Fund for its “Queer Quests,” a bi-weekly Dungeons & Dragons social group providing inclusive community-building activities for LGBTQ+ residents.

York Habitat for Humanity – received $10,000 for the Chestnut Street Revitalization Project, constructing four new affordable townhomes in York City’s East End neighborhood.

York College of Pennsylvania – received $10,000 for the Grant Writer in Residence program, providing free grant writing support to more local nonprofits.

Keystone Kidspace – received $10,000 to expand its mobile STEAM program, reaching underserved students and families across York County.

Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania – received $10,000 for its Academic Edge educational program providing STEAM, leadership, and life skills enrichment for elementary-aged girls in York City schools.

Positive Energy Arts Foundation – received $8,200 to expand the “Dance in the Gym” program to York City second graders, using dance education to build social-emotional and academic skills.

Best Buddies in Pennsylvania – received $7,500 for its Friendship and Leadership Development programs for students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities in York County schools.

White Rose Leadership Institute – received $7,500 for extending the York Federal Fellows cohort to an additional member to participate nonprofit, educational, and governmental executive leaders the opportunity to spend a year developing professionally and personally while expanding their leadership skills.

Catholic Harvest Food Pantry – received $5,000 for its annual YorkGiving Thanksgiving Distribution, providing 1,600 households with full Thanksgiving meals.

Downtown Inc – received $5,000 for its Welcoming Communities Grant Program, supporting community events that promote diversity and inclusion in York City.

The Advantage Program – $4,750 to support its partnership with Crispus Attucks to provide trauma-informed life skills and leadership programs for high school students.

North East Neighborhood Association – received $3,000 to provide cookware and small kitchen appliances to local families served by Chrystal’s Place to encourage healthy eating habits.

Embracing Aging Grant Recipients (Funded by the Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging)

Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education – received $5,600 to install age-friendly benches at the renovated, ADA-accessible Education Center to foster inclusivity for older adults.

Hospice & Community Care – received $4,000 to purchase simulation mannequins to train hospice nurses in wound care, IV insertion, and catheterization to enhance patient care.

Racial Equity Fund Grant Recipient

Women’s Care Center – received $8,500 for its bilingual parenting education classes, including “Mommy and Me” and “Raising Kids with Character,” for Spanish- and English-speaking families.

Field of Interest Grant Recipients (Funded through a variety of funds held at York County Community Foundation)

School District of the City of York – received $40,000 from the Doris E. Schwartz Fund for Education to launch the York City “First 10 Basics” Parenting Education Campaign, promoting early childhood development strategies for families with children ages 0–4.

Cumberland Valley Rail Trail (CVRTC) – received $5,000 from the Bob Hoffman Sports & Fitness Fund to support property donation fees to expand the South Mountain Trolley Greenway trailhead and resources.

PFLAG Westminster – Carroll County – received $1,000 from the Jeffrey D. Myers LGBTQ+ Fund for Book Talks and Book Distribution for Gender & Sexuality Alliances in Carroll County Public Schools and the broader community.
