York County Community Foundation Awards Over $12 Million in Grants and Scholarships in 2025

(York, PA, January 28, 2026) –York County Community Foundation (YCCF) is excited to share the impact of its work on the community in 2025. YCCF strives to create a vibrant York County by engaging donors, providing community leadership, and investing in high-impact initiatives while building endowments for future generations. The organization awarded 1,504 grants to 417 nonprofits in the amount of $11.8 million in 2025. These grants were issued from YCCF’s Fund for York County, the Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging, the Racial Equity Fund, Memorial Health Fund, and from a variety of the over 700 funds housed at the Foundation.

“As we reflect on 2025, I’m incredibly proud of the impact made possible through the generosity and commitment of our donors and nonprofit partners. Each grant awarded represents more than funding – it represents hope, collaboration, and a shared belief in the strength of York County. Together, we are investing in solutions that uplift families, strengthen neighborhoods, and build a more vibrant future for our community,” shared Natalee Gunderson, President & CEO of YCCF.

In 2025, YCCF’s grants focused on:

  • Career Development
  • Child and Youth Development
  • Environmental Protection
  • Providing High-Quality Childcare
  • Safe and Affordable Housing
  • Addressing Equity Gaps in Communities of Color
  • Making York County a Great Place to Age

YCCF determines its focus areas by convening partners to examine data, deepen shared understanding of community needs, and identify opportunities to catalyze positive change for York County. Thirty-seven grants totaling $560,046 from YCCF’s Fund for York County, were awarded to nonprofit programs designed to help low-income individuals build economic mobility.

YCCF knows that protecting the environment also creates a vibrant and healthy place for people to live, work, and play. The organization awarded $241,000 to nonprofits working to preserve and restore natural lands and waterways across York County.

To address the health and well-being of area residents, over $926,000 was awarded from the Memorial Health Fund to 24 nonprofits.

Six grants from the Racial Equity Fund totaling $68,646 were awarded to support projects and programs that reduce educational, economic, and health inequities, revitalize neighborhoods, and promote diversity and inclusion.

YCCF’s Hahn Home Fund for Embracing Aging awarded $356,000 to 14 nonprofits to support programs serving people age 50 and older, with a priority on housing and transportation programs.

With guidance from YCCF staff, more than 100 community volunteers helped to select grantees in 2025.

Another way to advance economic mobility and career development is through access to higher education. YCCF awarded over $634,500 in scholarships to local students pursuing higher education or technical training.

For its donors, YCCF seeks to provide the highest level of confidence when a donor considers the Foundation for endowed philanthropy. In 2025, YCCF remained in the top five Community Foundations in Pennsylvania and was once again proud to receive the Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, an online resource portal offering insight into millions of nonprofit organizations around the world. YCCF earned the top seal by providing authoritative data from several validating sources, including 990s. YCCF’s most recent financial information, strategic goals, and efforts in equity are available through its GuideStar profile.

In 2025, donors created 24 new funds to support the causes they care about for generations to come. Their contributions exceeded $10.5 million to the Foundation. With an endowed gift to YCCF, funds are invested to grow over time. This provides donors with the ability to make a much greater impact in the York community. Membership of its Legacy Society also grew with over 11 new donors joining the prestigious group.

The financial stability of YCCF’s nonprofit partners is critical to the community’s success.

Nonprofit organizations added almost $5 million to their endowment funds in 2025. By doing so, they will sustain their organizations and programs for as long as they continue to exist.

In 2025, YCCF expanded its support of the York County Nonprofit Collaborative, a group of local nonprofits, private funders, community leaders, and volunteers working together to build stronger organizations, support leadership, and streamline access to funding and resources. Serving as the backbone organization, YCCF provides administrative, staffing, and financial support for this growing network. Learn more at www.collaborativeyork.org.

YCCF balances its commitment to sustainable community change with the capacity to quickly mobilize when urgent needs arise. In response to the federal government shutdown and resulting pause in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in November, YCCF and United Way of York County (UWYC) partnered to provide immediate assistance to local families facing food insecurity. YCCF established the Nourish Now: Food Relief Fund where people could donate to the cause. UWYC launched the Emergency Food Relief Program as a first effort to support impacted families. Funded initially with $65,000 in grants from YCCF and the Memorial Health Fund, a supporting organization of YCCF, the charitable Nourish Now: Food Relief Fund provided 2,275 families with $100 grocery vouchers during the government shutdown.
