York City Band Fund

Established in 2001

An account of the glorious history of the York City Band records that the band never missed a year “blowing its horns to advertise the City” during its long history dating back to the mid-1800s. The band was officially formed in 1894. At its peak in the 1950s, it was a popular attraction at Sunday School picnics and park concerts. In 1989, the band established a trust that provided for a scholarship fund for York City students in the event that it ceased operations. When that trust was terminated in 2000, its assets established this Fund, which benefits York City School District students pursuing studies related to music.
