Royal A. Cannon Jr. Fund

Royal Cannon had a love for life, particularly cooking, his family, and the Merchant Marines. He wanted to join the Navy at 17, but when the Merchant Marines needed men, he signed on with them and proudly served in 1944-1946. While Mr. Cannon’s original intent was to create a nonprofit to carry on his charitable wishes, after his passing, his attorney, Larry Heim, and his executor, David Parent, decided the best and most efficient way to carry out Mr. Cannon’s intentions was to create this fund at the Community Foundation. This fund is designated to York County Library System for financial assistance for operations as well as promoting and encouraging public awareness of the American Merchant Marines.
