Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society Flexible Fund
The Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS) was formed in 1984 to promote and encourage the study, collection, and preservation of any or all aspects of the historical and cultural heritage of the area surrounding the Northern York County School District. The NYCHAPS duties involve doing everything necessary, proper, and incidental to accomplish such purposes.
This flexible fund will help the Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society in perpetuity to ensure it can work to preserve important historical treasures; including Dill’s Tavern and Plantation, as well as other restoration projects such as the study of 18th and 19th century life in America.
In 2002, NYCHAPS acquired the 200- year-old Dill’s Tavern through the generosity of Charles and Lucille Vogelsong. The restoration of this historical treasure has been a challenge and a labor of love. Today, the many buildings of Dill’s Tavern and Plantation have come to tell not only the history of Dillsburg, but the story of life on Pennsylvania’s frontier and a slice of our nation’s history.
Through our continuing archeological investigations and restoration projects, Dill’s Tavern and Plantation continues to grow in size and as a resource for the history of Dillsburg. The endowment fund is for the purpose of the general support of Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society, 35 Greenbriar Lane, Dillsburg, PA 17019.
