Mary Ellen Venus Fund for York County

Mary Ellen Venus left a bequest to the Community Foundation in support of the Fund for York County. She was a social worker and a Juvenile Probation Officer for York County. Mary Ellen and her sister Harriet, who also left a bequest to the Community Foundation, traveled to more than 60 countries around the world; but their roots were in York. They felt strongly that Yorkers deserved the same cultural advantages as other communities and supported York’s artistic venues.
