Joan F. and David E. Stauffer Jr Fund for York County

Established in 2017

The story of David and Joan Stauffer’s legacy begins with a cookie, long before they met at Grove City College. It begins in 1871, when David’s grandfather, David F. Stauffer, founded Stauffer Biscuit Company in York, PA and created a treat the world knows as the animal cracker. David and Joan got married, and after serving the U.S. Navy on the West Coast, returned to York in 1956 where they live to this day. They helped build the family business, providing jobs for their community, and raised their family here. Even after retiring, the Stauffers continue to give back to the community that had supported them.

They created several funds at YCCF to benefit specific interests that are dear to them, such as the arts, children’s issues, the York Symphony Orchestra and the beautification of York. However, they also recognized that as their business evolved from its inception in 1871, our community needs will also change over time. That is why they created the Joan F. and David E. Stauffer Jr. Fund for York County to round out their charitable giving portfolio. Joan and David take pride in giving back to the community that their family benefitted from and have firmed rooted the Stauffer family legacy for generations to come.
