Angelo and Butera Families Nursing Scholarship Fund
This scholarship’s focus is to provide financial support to a York Catholic senior who plans to enter a college or university program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Dr. John Angelo, Elizabeth Reineberg Angelo, RN, Dr. Vince Butera, Kathryn Angelo Butera, and their families are all YC graduates. Over the decades, YC has seen many graduates enter the nursing profession, including one of Dr. Butera’s nieces, who is a gifted and caring nurse.
Throughout their careers, Dr. Angelo, Dr. Butera, and Mrs. Angelo worked alongside many outstanding professional nurses with whom they collaborated in patient care.
While physicians lead the medical team, nurses provide the essential hands-on, ongoing care. They spend the most time with patients and their families at the bedside, bringing a unique combination of clinical expertise and compassion. Often, they serve as patients’ primary advocates while understanding and overseeing the entire care plan.
Nurses show tremendous compassion and empathy for those in their care, and the healthcare system relies on their work every day. Our families believe there is nothing better – or more important – than a good nurse. For that reason, we are honored to support and encourage young people as they enter the profession.
