Tom and Joan Norris knew that they wanted to annually give to their favorite charities, both now and into the future. Rather than write checks each year, the Norrises created the Norris Family Community Fund at the Community Foundation. This strategic planning allows them to quickly and easily meet their charitable goals by designating support for those charities in which they have been greatly involved and have come to know and love: First Presbyterian Church, York County SPCA, Our Daily Bread, York County Literacy Council, Gettysburg College, and United Way of York County.
Tom and Joan are passionate about their community, and it shows through their charitable support. Says Joan, “There is a saying: Leave a woodpile higher than you found it. That’s what we are attempting to do.”
The Norrises created a fund that supports organizations that are dear to their hearts: their designated fund annually distributes a percentage of the spending policy allotment to six different charities in York County. This matches their needs perfectly. It gives them peace of mind to know their charitable intentions will be met in perpetuity.
