Darryl E. Jones, Ph.D. and Maria L. Royce were named to the York County Community Foundation (YCCF) board of directors to further the organization’s impact on the community. They bring expertise in two key focus areas of YCCF: education and health.
Jones is a recent transplant to York, as the relatively new vice president of HACC’s York campus. In this role, he is committed to expanding partnerships for the school in the local community. Jones spent 12 years in leadership roles at the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York, prior to joining the HACC staff.
Jones earned his doctorate in higher education leadership from Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio; master’s degree in education from Howard University, Washington, D.C.; and bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina. His college teaching experience includes childhood development and college placement and procedures.
Royce is a senior vice president, strategy and market development and chief strategy officer for WellSpan Health. Her expertise in strategic and operational planning, community health improvement, philanthropy, marketing, communications, and community partnerships will be vital contributions to YCCF’s board of directors.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania., and a master’s degree in public administration/non-profit management from the University of Pittsburgh.
“With the addition of these two outstanding professionals, the YCCF board of directors expands its expertise to enhance its role in providing governance and guidance for YCCF’s finances and investments, policies, grantmaking activities, community advocacy, and charitable distributions,” said William R. Hartman, chair of the YCCF board of directors. “We are pleased to have them join such a strong group of strategic and dynamic community leaders.”
The nominations of Jones and Royce were approved by the board of directors prior to YCCF’s Annual Meeting on May 11. At this time, three long-time board members retired upon the completion of their nine-year terms. Lori O. Mitrick, John M. Polli, and Paul L. Rudy III were all recognized and thanked for their service during the Annual Meeting.
